In early November the Pharmaceutical Business Conference Group hosted the inaugural COG West Coast meeting in Burlingame, California. Stacey Lasser, Senior Project Manager at Mednet, presented on the role of adjudication technology in clinical trials.

Stacey's presentation focused on how Mednet's iMednet platform can optimize and enhance clinical event committee (CEC) adjudication processes. iMednet is an end-to-end eClinical solution spanning study data capture through reporting.

Key takeaways:

  • CECs play a vital role in reducing bias and variability in clinical trial result interpretations. While not required by regulators, CEC adjudication lends confidence and standardization to submissions.

  • iMednet allows source data collection, document uploads, adjudication workflows and finalization to occur within the same system. This consolidates processes into a single audit trail while maintaining blinding controls.

  • The platform is configurable to adapt to nuanced "adjudication readiness" rules, processing workflows and re-adjudication needs. Dashboards provide real-time visibility into status.

  • Built-in agreement comparison eliminates manual checks across reviewers. Disagreements can automatically trigger final "chair" review. No paper shuffling or spreadsheets.

  • API and data exports facilitate analysis. Configuration can be completed quickly if protocols are finalized. Intuitive interfaces minimize committee training needs.

Purpose-built adjudication technology can greatly optimize efficiency, transparency and oversight of this critical clinical trial process. Consolidation into the broader eClinical system provides a unified dataset for insights.
